Nails Galore
It's been a while since I've posted. Summer is here and almost over so let's talk about something fun. Nail colors and lip colors. Here are some cute nails and lips items I've picked up these past few months.
Maybelline New York Color Show Nail Polish:
There were a lot of nail colors that came out for the Maybelline New York Color Show nail polish this summer. I was walking around Walmart and saw a big display with a bunch of them in the cosmetic section. I've been a fan of Maybelline New York nail polishes so I decided to pick up two of the colors first to try them out(Green with Envy and Iced Queen). It worked really well and two weeks later I went back to get three more ^O^ and no surprise most of them were gone. These are really nice and for about 3 bucks a piece, it's really affordable. Took about 3 coats of application to get the colors right(except for Born with It..took a bit more) and the polishes doesn't have a heavy nail polish scent either. It's not instant dry so I waited 5-10 min to let it officially dry. You can put top coats to make it shinier or just leave it and it looks pretty solid on its own. It lasted a week without touch up so it's pretty good.
Names from left to right: Sweet Clementine, Fierce N Tangy, Green with Envy, Iced Queen, and Born with It
Contains: 0.23 fl. oz.
I'll put the pics of how they look like on my nails later. I really like the Green with Envy(minty green) and Iced Queen(creamy purple) color. It's bold but not too flashy. Born with it is really sheer whitish pink. Takes like 5 coats for the colors to come out on my nail. Sweet Clementine and Fierce N Tangy are like my fun summer color. I haven't done orange and yellow nails before so wanted to try them out.
Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat
I haven't got a chance to try out the crackle nail effect till now. It was in trend last year or so I think. I just got the opportunity to when I saw some Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat nail polish on sale at my local Rite Aid recently. Got four of them for a really nice price. The regular price at Rite Aid for this in my area is $6.99.
Names from left to right: Cherry Smash, Distressed Denim, Vintage Violet, and Antique Gold
Contains: 0.4 fl. oz.
These crackle overcoat is really neat. So you have your base color on the bottom and then you apply the crackle overcoat on top. I use vertical stride stroke so my crackle effect doesn't break off to little squares horizontally. I also notice that to make the color comes out, you need to put an overcoat on top of them or else they'll look dull. The darker nail color needs a light base color and vice versa. The gold is more of a glitter effect with hint of crackle. If only I can find a medium green crackle color, my nails would have looked like piles of bamboo trees.
Current Nails: Blue denim crackle over light pink undercoat
Here's an example of how the crackle effect looks:
